Six Rings Sangha

Six Rings Sangha was started in 2002 in State College, PA as a local satellite sangha of Mt. Equity Sangha. The core of our weekly gatherings is silent seated (zazen) and walking (kinhin) meditation with brief opening and closing chants. Throughout the month, there is also the opportunity for shared reading and discussion of a Zen Buddhist nature, talks offered by a teacher, and a service.

Six Rings practices in a manner consistent with Soto Zen Buddhism as transmitted through the lineage of our teacher, Rev. Dai-En Bennage Roshi who possesses deep wisdom cultivated from years of training in Japan. Mary Keien Boutselis, a long-time practitioner who received lay teacher entrustment through Rev. Bennage in 2021, guides the sangha.

Meetings are every Thursday evening from 7:30-9:00pm ET. We meet at the Rock Hill Schoolhouse, a renovated one room school house in Linden Hall, just outside of State College. On the first Thursday of the month there is a virtual connection available.  Newcomers as well as those with a seasoned meditation practice are welcome. If you are new to meditation, we will gladly offer you basic instruction in both sitting and walking meditation.
